Growing, Jumping and Camping!

Everett is now 4 months old! He is working hard to become a big boy! When we visited the Dr last week, he weighed 16lbs and 8oz. I can't believe that he is more than double his birth weight already. All I keep thinking is what happened to my little boy? Here are a couple pictures of him at 4 months. Along with being twice his birth weight, Everett is developing in other ways. He can now fully manuvor his Exersaucer and play with most of the toys.

He has started to use a Jolly Jumper and absolutely LOVES it! He adopted a Bumbo chair from Auntie Jessie and spends some time in it (although it makes him puke most of the time). He also can sit on the couch as long as he has back support. As you can tell, he constantly has his fingers in his mouth although he doesn't specifically suck on one or another. This weekend we spent camping with Gramma and Grampa Barrett. We had a great time, although it took us a full night and part of another of screaming to figure out how to get Everett to sleep. He really hates sleeping with us, so he ended up sleeping in his stroller. Whatever, he was happy! We also took him out on Grampa's boat. He was mesmerized by the wake at the back of the boat. He is a wonder! There is never a quiet moment when Everett is awake, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

What a GREAT weekend!

Hello All! Sorry, I know that I promised to post sooner, but life got away from me again. As you all know, Everett turned 3 months. Here is a few new pictures of our little man:

He is such a big boy! I am pretty sure that he would crawl if he could hold himself up. He is 25 inches long and 14 lbs 8 oz.

This is a classic example of Everett swimming. He's not really grumpy, but not terribly happy either...

He is one cool dude for sure!

It was our niece Emmerson's birthday on Friday. Happy 3rd Birthday Emmy! Check out the sweet cake Jessie made for her. I helped by advising on color (Hahahaha, seriously)

Brock once again participated in the Lethbridge Rotary Dragon Boat Festival. This is a yearly festival to support breast cancer research and survivors. Brock is the steersman for the local AMA team. This year they jumped up to division B from D. They had a best time of 2 min 30 sec. We are so proud of our team and Daddy Brock!

Our little trooper made it through the entire weekend with hardly a whimper. He was amazing as usual

Growing too fast

My little boy is growing up way too fast. Here are some of the things he is doing now:

-He can roll onto his side and with a bit of help can roll to his tummy
-He sticks his tongue out most of the time, rolling it, flattening it and pointing it
-He can grab toys and pull them, trying to stick them in his mouth
-He has discovered his hands and sucks on them constantly
-He is starting to discover his legs and feet
-He talks ALL THE TIME!
-He giggles and laughs when you tickle him or tease him with his blanket
-He went swimming for the first time and did not lose his mind (Thank Goodness, it was better than bathtime lol)

He is almost strong enough to play in the Exercauser. I am excited for him to be able to use it. I feel bad that he spends most of his play time on his back right now.

I will keep you posted to any other new skills he develops in the near future. Oh ya, and he is going to be 3 months tomorrow, so I will have to take a new picture and post that!

Yay for family and food!!

This weekend, my wonderful family in Calgary threw Everett and I a shower luncheon. It was awesome to get to see everyone and introduce them to my wonderful son. We got many wonderful things, including the ExerSaucer I have been eyeing up since last summer. I am so excited for Everett to be able to use it. Here are some photos:

Cupcakes mede by my cousin Kristi. Thank you for wonderful cream cheesy cupcakes.

A basket full of treats and fun stuff from Auntie Anne, Heather and Angie.

A diaper bear created by Vanessa. Can you believe that she created this on the fly? WOW!

And a diaper cake. I think I will never have to by diapers again. I can't believe the creativity!

While we are blogging and making announcements, it only took us 2 and a half months, but we have officially stopped using a shield to nurse! Mom (the writer) is super proud of her little boy! Here is a cool dude picture to celebrate:

2 Months!

Yayayay! Are you excited? This is 2 posts in a week. Pretty good, huh?

Soooo, Everett will be 2 months tomorrow. He has grown so much in these months, even Dr Gibb comment about how it seems like only yesterday he was born! We were at the Dr today and Everett is doing well. He weighs 11 lbs 12 oz, and is 23 and a half inches long. He is in the 50th percentile. Typically, he sleeps between 5 and 6 hours a night and sometimes up to 7 and a half. He is a smiling monster and even when he is really upset you can generally get him to smile. He also cries. I don't mean like the noise, because all babies cry. I mean if he gets upset enough, he cries real tears. It's enough to break your heart. He is really strong and loves to lay on the ground and kick. He talks a ton (not real words silly :P). He doesn't like coffee and broccoli (this is very sad for mommy).

I don't have a new picture yet, so tomorrow I will try to get a good one tomorrow. He has been feeling a bit under the weather, so we will see. In the mean time, here is a 'classic' Everett picture.

Gotta love the curls, he only gets them fresh out of the bath :(

Finally...

Ok, Ok, Ok.

I know.

He's 2 months old already.

BUT...TaDa!

Presenting EVERETT LYNDON PRICE

Everett was born March 18 2010 (10 days late) at 1:07 am. He weighed 8lbs 1oz and was 21 1/4 inches. He was the beautiful out come of 18 hours of induced labour and 3 hours of pushing, 20 mins with a vacuum. When he was born, Everett was not breathing and struggled to be resuscitated. Brock accompanied him to the NICU where he was placed under a space helmet to help him with his oxygen saturation. They also drew blood (a LOT of blood over the next 4 days) to do a blood culture to check for infection.

Over the next 24 hours, his saturation slowly rose and soon he was breathing perfectly. The next issue came to light when we started to feed him. Because he had been in the saturation hood, Everett was maintained by IV. I started trying to breastfeed him, but he was slow to pick it up, so we had to bottle him with part formula and part breast milk. Unfortunately, Everett's kidneys began dumping sodium. This led to him being kept in the NICU for 3 more days. These were the longest and hardest days of our lives! But before we knew it, Everett came to us and soon we were home!! All we had left to do was work out the Jaundice and help his contusion from the vacuum go down. This took very little time, considering they told us it could take months!

Here are a bunch of pictures from the next weeks of his life.
